Station 4: Refractive Index

Trace a light ray through a glass block to determine its refractive index.

Procedure

  1. Drag Pin 1 (Red) to change the incident ray angle.
  2. Observe how the ray refracts inside the block and emerges.
  3. Click Show Protractor to measure the angles at the lower boundary (Glass $\rightarrow$ Air).
  4. Measure the angle of incidence in glass ($i_{glass}$) and refraction in air ($r_{air}$).
  5. Record your readings in the table below.
